TO GAN
ToGan was born from an unexpected encounter with the spirit of abundance through a mother pig and her piglets (a pattern sculpted on an ancient ceramic vase) by the late People's Artisan Vũ Thắng. This led to the figure of a duck, a creature that is often mentioned in old folklore: The Duck That Hears Thunder - hearing but not understanding, or understanding but yet not listening?!
However the interpretation, the duck exudes a calm pride and peaceful demeanor.
It's no wonder that the poet Nguyễn Khuyến once playfully wrote:
...Though it is tiny, its courage is not small,
Even the roaring thunder doesn't faze it.
